How to Play Draw the Country Game
Draw the Country Game is a free online geography challenge that tests your ability to draw country borders from memory. Here is how it works:
Step 1: Choose Your Mode
Select from World, US States, Canada, Australia, or UK mode. Each mode gives you a different set of borders to draw. World mode is the default and currently uses 177 country and territory shapes from Natural Earth.
Step 2: Get a Random Country
Click "New Challenge" and the game will secretly pick a random country for you to draw. Choose Missing Shape for a hidden-country cutout or Location Dot for a harder marker-only challenge. The country name stays hidden until you submit.
Step 3: Draw the Borders
Use your mouse or finger (on mobile) to draw what you think the country looks like. You can draw multiple closed outlines for islands and separated regions. Focus on the overall shape and key features like coastlines, peninsulas, and borders with neighboring countries.
Step 4: Submit and Compare
Click "Submit" when you are done. The game will overlay your drawing on the actual country and calculate overall Accuracy using intersection over union. The map and score card also show Matched, Missed, and Extra areas in distinct colors.
Step 5: Improve Your Streak
Keep playing to build a streak of accurate guesses. An accuracy above 60% counts as a correct guess. Challenge your friends and see who can get the longest streak.

How is the accuracy score calculated?
When you submit your drawing, overall Accuracy is calculated using intersection over union (IoU): the overlapping area divided by the combined area of your drawing and the real country. Matched shows the percentage of the real country your drawing covers. Missed shows parts of the real country you did not draw. Extra compares the area outside the real border with the real country area. An overall accuracy above 60% is considered a correct guess.
Can I play Draw the Country Game on my phone?
Yes! Draw the Country Game works on mobile browsers. You can draw with your finger on touchscreens. The interface adjusts to fit smaller screens so you get the same experience on iPhone, Android, iPad, and desktop.

How many countries are in the game?
World mode currently includes 177 country and territory shapes from the Natural Earth 110m dataset. This includes large countries, small island regions, and multi-part countries. The game randomly selects from the full available dataset so you never know what you will get.
Do I need to create an account to track my score?
No account is needed. Your current session streak is tracked automatically while you play. For persistent high scores and leaderboards, optional account creation will be available in a future update.
